Period Oak Circular Private Dinning Table Restoration

Michenuels undertook the meticulous restoration of a 5ft circular period oak dining table for Bentley’s Restaurant, London W1B 4DG. The table, which had been heavily damaged with veneer lifting and missing along the edges, required extensive work. German black oak veneer was sourced, cut, and expertly pieced in to replace ¾ of the table’s edge.

The damaged centre was also replaced, then chemically stripped, neutralised, and sanded. After staining, the table was sealed, grain-filled, and finished with multiple coats of high-viscosity bar top lacquer, ensuring durability against spills. The restoration brought the table back to its original elegance, blending seamlessly with the restaurant’s period setting.

The project was completed over the course of four weeks.
